Terms of Service
Effective August 19, 2026 · Last updated August 19, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Added Time (“we,” “us,” “our”) governing your use of the Added Time app. By downloading or using Added Time, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Your use of Added Time is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard App Store EULA). Where these terms and Apple's standard EULA conflict, the standard EULA governs to the extent of the conflict.
The app
Added Time is a focus utility for iPhone. It helps you set aside time to concentrate and, optionally, shield distracting apps using Apple's Screen Time features. It runs entirely on your device. Added Time is free to download and use; Added Time Plus is an optional paid upgrade described under Purchases and billing.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Added Time on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms and the App Store Terms of Service.
Purchases and billing
The free tier
Added Time is free to download, and the free tier is a complete, working app — not a trial and not a time-limited demo. Everything that records your own activity (your subjects, goals, habits, focus blocks, tallies, history, streaks and focus ratio), the focus shield that sets apps aside during a block, one standing window, and the ability to take a break are all included at no cost, with no cap and no expiry.
Added Time Plus
Added Time Plus is an optional upgrade that unlocks the scheduled-blocking features — unlimited standing windows, per-app daily limits, screen-time goals with step-down coaching (including quiet mornings), the doorman's ledger, windows that follow an iOS Focus, a firmer hold-to-exit option, and four additional visual kits. It is offered in three products, all purchased through the App Store:
- Added Time Plus — Monthly. An auto-renewing subscription. Period: one month. Price: US$3.99 per month.
- Added Time Plus — Yearly. An auto-renewing subscription. Period: one year. Price: US$24.99 per year, following a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
- Added Time Plus — Lifetime. A one-time purchase, US$79.99. This is not a subscription: it does not renew, and there is nothing to cancel.
Prices are shown in US dollars and may differ in your region and currency. The App Store always shows you the exact price and terms for your account before you confirm a purchase; that price governs.
Auto-renewal terms
The monthly and yearly products are auto-renewing subscriptions. By purchasing one, you agree that:
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of the product you chose.
- You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time after purchase in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you are currently in.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion of it is forfeited when you purchase a subscription to that product. If you don't want to be charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Payment, refunds, and Family Sharing
Apple processes all payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds through the App Store, under Apple's terms. We never receive or process your payment details, and we cannot issue refunds ourselves — refund requests go to Apple. Added Time Plus is enabled for Apple's Family Sharing; whether and how a purchase is shared is managed by Apple.
There is no account to create with us. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, and you can restore it on your devices from within the app.
Price changes
We may change the price of a product. A price change to an existing auto-renewing subscription takes effect no earlier than your next renewal, and Apple will notify you — and, where required, ask for your agreement — before it applies. If you don't accept a new price, you can cancel before the renewal date.
If a subscription ends
Nothing you created is ever deleted because you stopped paying. If your subscription lapses or you cancel, the paid features simply stop being enforced: additional standing windows, per-app limits, and the screen-time goals remain visible in the app as resting entries rather than active ones. Your subjects, tallies, and history are untouched, and the free tier continues to work in full. If you subscribe again, those entries resume exactly as they were.
Intellectual property
Added Time — including its software and source code, design, user interface, graphics, app icon, animations, and text, together with the “Added Time” name and branding (collectively, the “App Materials”) — is owned by Mathias B Jacobson and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
The license above lets you use the app; it transfers no ownership to you. Except as permitted by applicable law or with our prior written permission, you may not:
- copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from the App Materials;
- use the “Added Time” name, app icon, or branding — or any confusingly similar name or branding — for your own app, product, or service;
- present another app or service in a way likely to confuse users as to whether it is, or comes from, Added Time; or
- remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you agree that we may use them without any restriction or obligation to you.
Acceptable use
Please use Added Time lawfully and as intended. Don't:
- misuse the app or interfere with its intended functioning;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract its source code, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- use the app to violate anyone's rights or any law.
Not professional advice
Added Time is a self-help focus tool. It is not medical, psychological, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for professional help. Use your own judgment.
Screen Time and device features
Added Time relies on Apple's Screen Time features (Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings) to block and limit apps. These are provided by Apple and behave according to Apple's system software, which we don't control. Added Time is a commitment aid, not a security or enforcement tool — it can help you stick to your intentions, but it is not designed to be tamper-proof.
No warranty
Added Time is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) Added Time. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the total amount you paid for Added Time in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Changes to the app and these terms
We may update Added Time and these terms from time to time. If we change these terms, we'll update the date above and post the new version at this page. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Termination
You may stop using Added Time at any time by deleting it. Deleting the app does not cancel an auto-renewing subscription — cancel that in your Apple Account settings, as described above. These terms remain in effect for as long as you use the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where the consumer-protection laws of your place of residence require otherwise.
